Diversity: Graduate Student Recruitment Programs: Undergraduate Support Program

The goal of the undergraduate support program is to ensure that the undergraduate experience is successful for underrepresented students and to encourage these students to continue their studies in graduate school.

A strong support system is essential once students arrive on campus to help them adjust to campus life and succeed academically. Efforts at the undergraduate level focus on establishing mentoring relationships to provide support while students pursue their undergraduate degrees. Current College of Engineering upperclassmen from underrepresented groups became mentors to incoming underrepresented freshmen within their major field of study.

Student organizations such as the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and the Society of Latino Professional Engineers (SHPE) also provide a support network for their peers.
