Other Teaching Materials

Nano-CEMMS educators have used the learning materials provided below with diverse middle and high school students. You will find may learning materials, including activity guides, lessong plans, presentations, videos, and pictures. In some cases links are provided to other websites that contain materials. Some of these materials are still in development and will eventually find their way into Nano-Lessons in a Box. Please feel free to download the learning materials below for use in your classroom.

  • Sock Images

    This category contains 4 SEM pictures of socks. Two are typical white athletic socks containing no silver (labeled "untreated") and two are of commercially available antimicrobial socks (labeled "antimicrobial"). The antimicrobial socks claim to have silver nanoparticles. It appears that the nanoparticles are used to coat some of the threads.
  • Three Bacteria Samples

    This category contains SEM pictures of three types of bacteria, grown with and without the presence of silver nanoparticles. The letter in the filename indicates what each pictures shows. The key for that letter is below:

    A = E. coli
    B = E. coli + silver

    C = Bacillus
    D = Bacillus + silver

    E = Coccus
    F = Coccus + silver
